If I go to Israel, I’m quitting the best job I’ve ever had.
If I go to Israel, I’m putting friendships on hold.
If I go to Israel, I’m leaving my Mom and Dad alone.
If I go to Israel, I’m putting my plans for future apartments, cars, and other possessions on hold.
If I go to Israel, I’m spending $1500 on a plane ticket.
If I go to Israel, I’m working for months with no pay.
If I go to Israel, I’m working at a job that would not benefit me in the long run.
If I go to Israel, I risk paying extravagant amounts for rent, or living in a shithole of a dorm.
If I go to Israel, I don’t know how I’ll get around if public transit fails me.
If I go to Israel, I will need to find things to do.
If I go to Israel, I need to make new friends.
If I go to Israel, I will need to overcome a language barrier.
If I go to Israel, I will be seen as an outsider.
If I go to Israel, everything I work toward will be temporary.
If I go to Israel, I’m seeing a girl who I know I will have to leave within a few months.
If I go to Israel, I’m seeing a girl who I’ve only seen for a few months within the past two years.
If I go to Israel, I’m seeing a girl whose family, work, and social problems have tended to bring me down.
If I go to Israel, I’m seeing a girl who I’ve learned I cannot trust.
If I go to Israel, I’m seeing a girl who breaks promises.
If I go to Israel, I’m seeing a girl with the knowledge that she has cheated on me.
If I go to Israel, I’m seeing a girl who I once loved but can no longer say I do.
Why would I go to Israel?
I clearly missed these developments somewhere along the road. But otherwise, it seems like you have logically concluded that there is no reason to go to Israel and a plethora of reasons NOT to go to Israel and have done so in a signature JeffreyAteTheWalrus type of fashion. Don’t go. Plain and simple.
sorry Jeffrey. 🙁 It’s for the best.
Damn. Sorry, man. That’s pretty rough.
Still, better that you come to this conclusion now before you make a huge mistake.
Good luck.
(Well for the record I already bought the plane ticket but I’d be getting the majority of that back)
i wasn’t aware you had gotten back together
Best job evar sounds good not to miss out on! What is your job now, anyway?
Sole web developer at Diabetes Health
It is a great job because I am practicing and learning so much more PHP than I’ve ever known and I also get to plan the future of the site and do design work and troubleshoot office stuff and solve a whole lot of problems! It’s a very small company but it’s a very active job. No downtime at all. A big, big to-do list of stuff I can’t wait to do. Cool people. And it pays well, too!
Nice!
That sounds like all sorts of fun/interesting/challenging goodness!
I don’t mean to be picky, but the “kids” block on the main page goes to the next line in firefox for me! Not in safari, though…
Next line? Kids under Newsrooms? Might be missing something. (But either way it’s probably not my fault as I didn’t originally make the site… I just maintain and update it.)
Yeah, the kids newsroom linky thing. It’s like it thinks there’s not enough room for it so it moves itself to the next line. I bet something is sliiightly too narrow for some padding that only firefox decides to do anything with…. rar, silly cross browser compatibility issues!
Dang I dunno, I don’t see it on Windows or Mac Firefox 2 or 3. What would be moving itself to the next line if the link is just “Kids”?
The link is the whole image…?
Oh OH OHHHH ok
Okay I thought you were talking about the menu on the left but instead you are talking about the Kids IMAGE. Man, that garbage. That’s also going away. I have noticed that elsewhere but I forget where.
That’s something that can be fixed while it’s still there, though. Thanks!
I am usually always pro-travelling but I am seeing the drawbacks. And if things don’t go well with Shiranne, you might end up feeling pretty lonely, with the language barrier only making things worse.
Could the job theoretically lead to other jobs in the area? or even in the Bay Area? Is the job going to be a good social enabler?
It seems like this is going to come down to if you want to go for your own sake. And so far, it sounds like this trip isn’t 100%.
The job could definitely lead to other jobs, but mostly as an awesome thing on my resume. The job isn’t the best in terms of social opportunities mainly because it’s located in Marin, where no one my age lives.
The job isn’t something I want to stay at for a long time due to that fact, but right now it’s perfect.
🙁
yeah, fuck it. The cons in this situation for sure outweigh the pros.
Hey, look on the bright side, at least youve been able to see israel before, so your not going to be missing that going-to-a-new-unknown-country experience.
