I made my own BMS file.

BMS – Archetype (17.5 MB)

This was hard to do. Using Reason, I exported a loop of every single note played in the song (sans repeats) to one file each, and then put them all back together using a BMS creation tool.

BMSes, for those not in the know, are simfiles for beatmania, meaning they contain the information and sounds that make up songs to be played like in beatmania. I’ve got a lot of official(ly illegal) ones, and a lot of originals from mildly popular Japanese composers.

So yeah, Archetype as a BMS. Download, have fun. If you don’t have a beatmania sim and you want to play or just watch the notes fly by, download MixWaver][. Extract it, place the FOLDER CONTAINING the files in the Archetype zip in the same directory as mixwaver2.exe, open the program. You can either “listen” to it or “play” it.

FYI, it’s got 4 difficulties: 5key (7☆), Light 7 (4☆), 7key (7☆), Another 7 (8☆).

…my grandma died today.

For my entire life, she lived in Florida – and only in this second half of the year did her health turn for the worse, and she was put into a nursing home. I was never too close to her – the most recently I’ve talked with her was just through email correspondance, with some photos of myself and some music I’d composed. Like most people and their grandparents, it would have been nice to spend more time with her.

It’s not ultimately saddening or shocking – we were expecting it, but not so early. But she’s been a widow for 19 years now – my grandpa passed away a few months before I was born. Her death marks the first death in my family since I was born.

So yeah, never been to a funeral, never had to deal with anything like this. I don’t know what’s going to happen, plans-wise. I can’t imagine how my dad feels.

Sadly, it’s yet another case of not knowing what you had until it was gone. Hmm. I think I’m going to hang out a bit with my friends; this doesn’t seem like the appropriate time to be milling around on the net.

Hey hey what's this trance crap

I made this with the thought that starting on a completely unoriginal basis would lead to new ingenuity. It sorta worked. It’s a generic trance song, yet I like how it sounds, and I don’t know… it’s got some personal touches and it’s fun to listen to. Sounds professional to a degree, which definitely makes me lose respect for veteran trance artists. This stuff is child’s play; shame on you!

Well, everyone else is linking it. Very well-put, and although I really don’t like Kerry, at least he finally said what everyone hoped he’d say: we did not expect the administration to treat the war like such when we gave him the go-ahead, and that’s why we’re against it now.

So yes, I re-iterate: VOTE. Please. It is actually really important.

A meh bleh

I woke up way too early for move-in day, but that’s my fault. I told my dad to wake me up when he gets up, no matter what. I wanted to be up for a while to make sure everything was packed… but unfortunately, I spent most of the night alternating between dreaming and waking up about the same thing.

Most of my dreams consisted of not being able to get everything into the trunk of my mom’s truck, and having to leave the computer behind or something. Couldn’t sleep well. Heh, I’m so lame.

So now I’m on the old computer, just waiting for my mom to drop by so we can make the trek down to Santa Cruz. Oh I didn’t mention that, did I. I’m going back to UC Santa Cruz today. Heh.

I’m also pretty nervous about starting my job tomorrow – yes, I’m doing it remotely from my dorm. I’m going to be oriented over the phone. I don’t know if they have the correct contact method or if I’m going to have to reschedule the orientation or BLAH. I’m sure everything will work out, but it’s all still pretty stressful.
