Terrorist Attack in Madrid

In case anyone hasn’t heard the news yet, there was a train-related terrorist bombing attack in Madrid that killed at least 190 people.

Another point worth noting is that today is exactly 2 1/2 years after the terrorist bombings in New York.

  1. hmm, i heard that it was the Basque seperatists who did the bombing. but killing people with their bombs isnt their style so who knows.
isn’t the world a wonderful place?

    1. Actually, I think it’s -more- signifigant that it happened exactly 911 days after 9/11.
Or it’s coincidence. Either way, I don’t think it’s worth dwelling on.

      1. ooh…I hadn’t thought of that…that’s…creepy…
No, it’s probably not something to take too much time thinking on, but it is interesting all the same…

  2. they weren’t bombings. planes crashed into buildings. i don’t see why everyone uses the term “bombing” — maybe they need to come up with a term to signify “planes crashing into building” that doesn’t have the word “bombing” in it.
    it just seems so vulgar.

    1. Elsewhere in Washington on September 11, 2001, a bomb blew up in a car near a government building. Hence, the terminology is correct.
In other news, it’s sorta like the phrase “divebomb” – you’re not actually igniting a bomb, you’re just plummeting. When you say a movie bombed, you don’t think of it blowing up, but you also think of it crashing or plummeting.
In other news, I was sure that someone would correct me on this, and it’s to the point where 9/11 was such a big event that terminology really doesn’t matter…

      1. i dont see why people are surprised when they here that such an event happened 2 and a half years, like as if they didnt plan such horrible things. if your going to think up and be committed to such a horrible crime, you would at least plan a creative date.
        fucking bastards.

        1. I know. That was in 1993, correct?
But what I’m arguing is that terminology really isn’t too important. I think people can do basic math anyway to see what day was 2 1/2 years ago… 😛
