Just to reiterate

So uh yeah I shaved my head today because I would later play a neo-Nazi in this guy’s final project for a Film class! It was very fun but I will start with yesterday!

I first hopped on the film because Alessandro, the guy in charge, needed someone to play a priest. I can (could) pull off sort of an older man thing with my receding hairline so I volunteered – thing was, we needed to drive to Piedmont because that was the only church that would let us film inside. And also blaspheme a whole lot.

But yeah I actually got to go in the back where they keep the fucking AWESOME priest’s robes and put those on, and one of the priests there actually helped me put on the collar thing. I looked totally badass. So the scene consisted of Jesus reprimanding me for being a total dick and giving me shaken-baby syndrome.

Today though he needed more people to play neo-Nazis (Alessandro doesn’t know a lot of bald white guys) so I volunteered to chop it all off. It was really awesome and great because I got to smash an old TV with a hammer and try not to inhale the poisonous fumes. Glass went EVERYWHERE. I guess you just get to do cool things like that when you’re a baldy.

I’m feeling really productive for some reason so I’ll actually do homework on a mid-weekend night!

All right! I’m registered and reserved for Fanime this year.

James, Paolo and I are staying in the Marriott from Friday till Monday. Although it’s just a single, it fits a lot of people and others are welcome to room (paying their fraction of the night’s cost).

See y’all there in May.

The Haps

I haven’t done a regular blog for a while, so I thought I’d put my to-do list into prose.

First of all, this morning I woke up at 5:50 to apply for Birthright. They opened it at exactly 5:57, so I got about halfway through the application before thousands of other folks flooded the registration server and slowed it to a halt. So an otherwise simple registration form took about 30 minutes to complete. No biggie! Mer signed up for it real early too, so here’s hoping we both get in! In the meantime, I have to make sure my passport’s renewed.

I’ve been getting in trouble for my car a lot recently. First of all, I’m finally doing online traffic school because of the +12MPH speed violation back in November… I have more than two months left to complete it, so I’m doing one module at a time whenever I can.

Second, due to a little misunderstanding, my stepmom didn’t mail me the registration bill for my car until two months too late… so I had to pay a penalty for it. I’m willing to pay that extra $50 because she gave me the car as a present… but then I went down to my car a few days later and noticed that I got a ticket for the exact same thing – my registration tabs weren’t up-to-date. So when I finally get my tabs in the mail, I’ll have to fight with the campus police so I don’t have to pay an extra $97 for the extra violation.

I sent in my application to University of Washington! I also sent a transcript and my GRE scores their way, but I’ve still got my statement of purpose to finish up, as well as making sure my professors here finish up their letters of recommendation. I’ve still got two weeks to get all that done, though, so that’s no big rush either.

Over the weekend I’m going to be acting in a film guy’s final project. On Saturday, I’ll be a priest. On Sunday, I’ll be a skinhead.

…but what’s that? Don’t skinheads not have a lot of hair?

Yeah I decided that I’ll be shavin’ all of it off over the weekend. I’ll go from the longest hair I’ve ever had, to the shortest. I don’t really look good either way, but I might as well go for the shock factor.

Yesterday I took Jocelyn out for Thai! It was her first time having Thai and there is no better place to do it (in Santa Cruz) than at the Thai Noodle Kitchen on Mission. Let’s hear it for awesome pad see-ew.

And all this has been done in the midst of the academically busiest quarter ever. I’m finally done with all my midterms but now come all the final projects and research papers. Speaking about this I thought I’d have enough time to write this entire entry but I actually don’t and I need to run to class now so goodbye.

What do y’all think? Jews are allowed this thing called Birthright where they get a free trip to Israel and get to stay in hotel with other Jewz and meet religious leaders and do sort of a camping-type thing. I’m not doing much over the summer anyway so if it’s completely free, I guess there’s no reason not to, right?

Plus it all fits in with my plan to branch out a bit, although it’s not really being on a trip as an individual. (Although I hear I can extend my stay in Israel after the trip is over for a relatively small fee. Sup Shiranne!) Also who knows even though there’s no God I might come back brainwashed and trying to convert everyone around me after I undergo a profound mystical experience.

Anyone been on Birthright before? Opinions? Thoughts?
