Change in plans…

So instead of Humanist Psychology, I’m going for Intro to Digital Media. Why an introductory FILM course in my junior year?
Well, as I guess I haven’t said here before, I intend to get an MFA in Digital Arts and New Media once I’m done with my BA in Linguistics. That’s a pretty sharp leap to a completely different discipline. My Music minor only slightly, slightly helps. So I was talking to an academic advisor who also happened to be taking this MFA right now, and he told me that I have to be recreationally and academically interested in pursuing digital media-related shit. No duh, right?
Sooo… jumping out of Linguistics might be a little too risky – and if I do, I definitely wouldn’t be able to graduate in 4 years. So I’m sticking with Linguistics, planning on getting a BA in it, AND I’m still planning on minoring in music, but in the meantime with any free time I might have I also plan on cramming my schedule full of digital media-related stuff. Not that that’s a bad thing (in fact it’s going to be very fun), but I really have to start right away if I have even a smidgen of a chance of doing a master’s program here.
Ughua. I wish I knew all of this earlier. And this is all funny to hear, that at this point I barely have a chance, after I’ve just finished tidying up my portfolio, even though it doesn’t cut it in the slightest when it comes to actual achievement which is interesting on an academic level.
On a side note, I might be a counselor at a tech camp this summer!

    1. Now that’s the burning question!
A number of factors, some not as valiant as others.
      1) I’m very good with languages. I know the basics of Hebrew, Japanese, French, and other Italic languages. I seem to be a natural at syntax, and I’ve always been able to spell things easily and understand concepts of language very easily. I’m not much of a writer (and a lot less of a reader) but language itself fascinates me. It’s also got to do with the fact that I enjoy computer languages but am not much of a programmer.
      2) Um… wasn’t interested in film, couldn’t do the math part of comp sci, wasn’t passionate enough for music and couldn’t perform instruments… Linguistics can be completed easily in 2 years, and I already fulfilled the prerequisites to declare. :\

  1. I might stay an extra quarter. I have little heart for taking more than three classes a quarter….and summer classes won’t fill up the deficit, I don’t think.
But if I did do four a quarter I could definitely get around it. I’m not interested in more degrees right now so there isn’t too much point in hanging around.

  2. I want their mp3s, I think I heard them late at night on live105, and thought they were awesome, had NO idea it was your sister, TOTALLY suprised.
Send me more info on them.
