Oh, doesn’t take long at all. My camera (which is bottom-of-the-line) has a setting for “Panorama Assist” – when I set it to that mode, I take a picture, and then about a quarter of that picture is overlaid on the display so I can take the next picture in the series.
Then I go to Photoshop and use the “Photomerge” tool which lets me line a bunch of pictures up.
