Has anyone else seen Windows’s new “Start Something” magazine ads? The swirly, colorful mix of vectors, 3D, clipart, engravings, pencil art, and other media, has never been pulled off so gracefully. From a graphic design standpoint, it’s genius. And when standing up to Apple, that’s pretty important.
This one (high resolution) isn’t the best example – the site‘s got some nicer, animated ones… but just look at all that stuff that’s going on there, and it isn’t too overwhelming or complicated.
I dunno. I just spent all breakfast just looking at one of these ads in Newsweek. I think they’re great.
I’m a really smart guy and here I am writing a comment about how it doesn’t change how much Microsoft sucks and I hate Windows, lol wow, I’m really clever I’m glad no one else thought of this.
Pointless full agreement
Yeah, I’ve seen those for about six months now, mostly in the New Yorker. They do look pretty awesome, and the Apple competition was also the first thing I thought of when I saw them.
Re: Pointless full agreement
Coincidentally, later in the day I walked back down to the kitchen table and I saw there was another magazine with a Mac ad open – it was really plain. Just a giant “X” and a bunch of quotes about how Windows sucks. I guess you could call it “elegant,” but I dunno. A very interesting comparison.
