Eh, nowhere near to the notorious in South Korea in January 2003, caused by salvos of DoS attack from Microsoft SQL Server 2000 machines infected with the Sapphire (aka Slammer or SQHell). Heavy dependency upon Microsoft server products had turned most datacenters in Korea into a fantasy battlefield with thousands of zombie servers each.

They would cover whatever newsworthy things they can find, and sadly in this MS-dominated IT world the worm is newsworthy… I mean, think about 87619487612893619283 poor people who have been given practically no choice in what to install on their PC.
No actually it’s the opposite here. They were covering it because it was the ONLY thing they could find – because they’re running Windows 2000 and were basically out of commission for a while, so all they could report about were technical difficulties. 😛

i rember my friend got this, and it lagged so bad i could race the worm to download the patch, and i won.
this was the coolest worm ive ever seen, some kid in our tech support class made a script with the shutdown.exe program and made it execute right as people loged in, our techer fliped and made us reinstall windows on all the computers
they should have been using a linux distro instead
linux > windows 2k or xp
