For those who don’t have an SA account or don’t want to read the whole thing, here’s the gist:
Someone I don’t know IM’d me.
I responded.
Sooner or later, we discovered that both of us were getting messages from one another that we didn’t send.
After a whole bunch of confusion, we realized that we were not actually talking to each other’s real AIM name – rather, we were both talking to the SAME AIM name, and it was forwarding the messages to the each of us.
Then we found out each other’s real AIM name, and sorted it all out…
So yeah, if someone named “geodetherapy” talks to you, don’t answer. 🙂
i saw something similar in an internet video thing.
call 2 chinese restaurants. order something complex to deliver on one of them, ask to repeat the order, then connect the two and let them battle it out :3
