Google’s got a great new thing – called Google Pack.
It’s very simple – just a site that lets you download a bunch of great mostly-free applications in a package, and informs you of updates when they become available.
Package can contain:
- Ad-Aware SE Personal
- Adobe Reader
- Mozilla Firefox w/ Google Toolbar
- GalleryPlayer HD Images
- Google Desktop
- Google Earth
- Google Pack Screensaver
- Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer
- Google Talk
- Norton Antivirus 2005 Special Edition
- Picasa
- RealPlayer
- Trillian
Of course, you can check which ones you want installed and which ones you don’t – in my case, I already heard of and had all the ones I wanted, and simply installed Google Updater to keep them fresh.
I’m a little disappointed with their choice to include RealPlayer and an Antivirus trial, and probably that GalleryPlayer thing, whatever that is… and I installed Firefox through Updater but definitely got rid of the Google Toolbar… but still, I think it’s a great starter pack for anyone using Windows.
