My dad’s brother is getting married to his sweetheart of 20 years! Of course, it doesn’t mean much besides legal benefits since they’ve been together for so long, but it’s one hell of a 20th anniversary present.

Awwww…
Don’t they have common law marriage after 10 years anyway? O.o I dunno, that’s just a rumor I heard.
I thought so too. But apparently not: http://www.unmarried.org/common-law-marriage.html
what’s more important
Is that “Uncle Sandy” has prevented his own children from seeing their Mom for many years. He made it seem as if their Mom had lots of problems. It’s the same thing that’s been done to me and lots of my single-mom divorced friends who have been victimized by their x-spouses. This is a syndrome that lots of young people don’t know about because they have to grow up and find out.
But, my family knows Sandy’s mom well, and we all like her a lot. She’s a creative concert-pianist. It’s Sandy and his new wife-to-be that should free their children and encourage them to reunite with their mother.
Once Uncle Sandy begins treating the mother of his children with respect, I’ll feel happy for him and his new wife.
