Part 1 of B-SET WEEKEND EVAR is in the books. What a day.
First off, good news: Rohnert Park is getting Drummania/Guitarfreaks. Base has the 5th mix shipped. There're 3 tournaments in the next 3 months, and possibly 4 if Chris announces the tentative Starbase one. I got into Pitzer and Lewis and Clark (got into every private college!), and I'm now a 4:47 miler ("IT'S A NEWW RECAHD!!"). Had no homework at all due Friday, meaning I actually got SLEEP the night before. And I needed it after that track meet. After 6th period, I finally got the tape with the freestyle footage from the Starbase tournament, then Jeff and I met up and grabbed a couple signs that were being posted around school--"BEAT DRAKE" and "GO TL MCAL CHAMPS!!!". We paraded them around Drake when we later drove there. =D I met up with the crew early for once, we danced and headed to the costume store to check out hats and gay feather boas. Adam finally found a zoot suit, and couldn't really explain to the clerk that he wanted it to wear every day. Adam: How much is this? Kind Laidy: "$65 to rent." Adam: "Well, I don't really wanna rent it..." Kind Laidy: "Well...what do you need it for?" Adam: "Just, uhh I dunno. I just want to see if you...had it." After walking down to Digiquest to do absolutely nothing, we got kicked out and returned to the Base. Jeff overplayed the new unlocked song, Sakura (which I'd hear wayy too much at the Riptide Arcade bash in San Francisco). I also finally It was then time to get our asses down to Pier 39 before we missed any more buses, so we walked down to the transit center and had some good random conversation (Chris had some stories about burning rice rockets in street races with his old car :). One of the highlights of the night was his friend Randee--who was supposed to bus with us from SR earlier--getting on the same Muni bus as us and taking a few moments to realize that it was Chris and I sitting there in front of him. XD We arrived at the pier and met up with Justin and Shannon, Chris's girlfriend. Every freaking thing in the Riptide arcade was on free play, even the food--once I got in, it was like *cue screechy "Colors girl" singing* "I'M IN HEAVENNN". I got in a whopping THREE games of DDR in thanks to everybody else wanting to play, but eh, watching wasn't as boring as I expected. I managed to throw off all teh inhibitions and freestyled (and was the only one there who was--surprise!), mirrored AM-3P and got a good reaction, failed Trick Oni after 2 songs, and had a few spins at Beatmania III. With Chris introducing me to BM earlier, today was sorta my "initiation" to BM. I think I could really get into this whole series (minus the elitist calling of DDR "ARROW SMASH URHURHURHR"). And it's true what they say about the series--the songs are so much better than most of the stuff in DDR (get good-cool - VJ Army). There was also plenty of good local competition at MvC2--I spent most of the time there just trading rounds with people who knew how to use the top-tier characters. Good, loud gamin' was had, and there were so many people at once that it was ridiculous. I got to see all the RTA regulars and then some: Benji, AzHP (AzN Harry Potter who's MEMORIZED MAXX UNLIMITED), LiquidBlue (fookin' crazy Beatmania player), calib3mani (organizer of B3 and nice guy), and blue^, the Palo Alto DDRFreak mod who full combos EVERYTHING on heavy doubles...I saw him that one time at CVGL and never got his name for months after...tonight I finally I find out that it's Eugene, woo. I got to beat down Bryan H and LiquidBlue in MvC2, muah hah. I saw some amazing PA tonight--two guys played Love Love Shine on Heavy and ended up with 3 and 6 Greats. ._. Also, there were a lotta good girl gamers--I can't think of many things cooler than seeing a raver-ish Asian girl with red tinted sunglasses and headphones kicking Beatmania III's ass. At midnight, RTA was shut down, and Chris left to go to another Bemani-ish party at AzHP's house (I'd later find out they'd be going to MGL the next day, argh!). The best part of the night then began, as Randee, Shannon, man, Justin and Noah 'n I all sugared up on 7-11 drinks, crammed into Noah's car, and talked about everything from the Ramen I was carrying around with me ("It's like a big cookie!") to Chris's "sleeping incidents" to prank calling people while sounding like Felicia cat-'gasming...we even had an extended pass made at Justin by a car full of guys next to us who thought he was a girl, and ended up blowing kisses back and forth--hilarious to see how pissed those guys were when they caught on. Car rides are way too much fun with the right people. I was glad to be able to fit in here and get to know some new faces, even being 3-5 years younger than 'em. Shannon and Randee agreed that I could pass for 20, g'damn! And they all quoted Captain Jack a LOT. XD I am so ecstataaac! And shit, how'd it get to be 5:40...hmm...I got home at 2ish...must've been all that caffiene. Yeesh, I still feel hopped up enough to dance to something...but I'd better not miss this next big day in San Jose ahead of me. Time to get up. :P |
