First we have to look past the rampant radicalism that sweeps the campus, turning regular people into misguided “free speech” exercisers. They ridicule other points of view and completely dismiss any other plans and goals that more moderate personalities might provide. These sorts of people end up trapping themselves in a state of intolerance and pessimism, which is exactly the attitude from which they’re trying to escape. I’m not talking about anyone in particular, but let’s get to the juicy part of my blog. The specifics. (BTW, I am quite lower-left, but as Sophie put it, you don’t have to act like a hippie to have the ideals of one.)
First off, there are those that fail to venture outside their rooms. This could be called fetal immaturity, as the room provides a safe haven for those who are too scared to venture outside their safe zone. DON’T BE BORN, THEN.
There are those that move onto college thinking that they can keep the ties they created in their high school years without conflict. Sure, it works sometimes, but this is maturity we’re talking about – many people are not mature enough to realize that life goes on, and prolonged exposure to another lifestyle changes one’s personality. On a daily basis, I am witnessing unfaithfulness and otherwise backtalk, and I’m getting tired of it.
There are those that let problems pass them by. These people are often on the other side of the whole “long-distance relationship” thing. These sorts of people sit around and either let problems cultivate before their eyes, or even make them worse. Of course, they blame themselves for something going wrong, but they’re too stoic to realize exactly what they have to do to remedy it.
And then there are those that don’t realize sheer admiration and affection when they see it.
If you think you might be one of these types of people, do ask me. I am referring to a few specific cases for each type of person, and just not mentioning them due to privacy issues.

I usually wouldn’t have much to complain about, but when something affects me, I do something about it.
