Why an introductory FILM course in my junior year?<br \/>\nWell, as I guess I haven&#8217;t said here before, I intend to get an MFA in <a HREF=\"http:\/\/digitalarts.ucsc.edu\/\">Digital Arts and New Media<\/a> once I&#8217;m done with my BA in Linguistics. That&#8217;s a pretty sharp leap to a completely different discipline. My Music minor only slightly, <i>slightly<\/i> helps. So I was talking to an academic advisor who also happened to be taking this MFA right now, and he told me that I have to be recreationally <i>and<\/i> academically interested in pursuing digital media-related shit. No duh, right?<br \/>\nSooo&#8230; jumping out of Linguistics might be a little too risky &#8211; and if I do, I definitely wouldn&#8217;t be able to graduate in 4 years. So I&#8217;m sticking with Linguistics, planning on getting a BA in it, AND I&#8217;m still planning on minoring in music, but in the meantime with any free time I might have I also plan on cramming my schedule full of digital media-related stuff. Not that that&#8217;s a bad thing (in fact it&#8217;s going to be very fun), but I really have to start right away if I have even a <i>smidgen<\/i> of a chance of doing a master&#8217;s program here.<br \/>\nUghua. I wish I knew all of this earlier.
