I've got a really busy

I've got a really busy week again (it's the week before Finals yayay), but this, I think, is worth mentioning.

For the first time in my life, I've just asked someone out. And not someone from another state like Bob does (read previous post), but someone from my grade, in my school, in my classes, and most surprisingly, female.

My mom pretty much told me to do it, actually. There's this girl in my choir class, and she along with the rest of this group came over to practice one of our songs and have some pizza. Mom wears these really crappy prescription glasses, so she thought she saw sparks flying between her and me, and the next day ORDERED that I call her and ask her out to dinner. The argument literally went like this for at least a full minute:

Mom: Yes.
Me: No.
Mom: Yes.
Me: No.
Mom: Yes.
Me: No.

Then she took away my computer and Tonight Show with Jay Leno priveleges until I called, so I bargained, calling it awkward to call out of the blue, did some "subliminal flirting" the next day, and called her up. (Unfortunately, that night that I bargained, I didn't need the computer and the Tonight Show was a rerun.)

So I called up, called my mom stupid once or twice for making me do this (wrong move, it made me sound like I was completely reluctant), and asked her out to Applebee's. (It would have been the uber-expensive Frantoio restaurant, but I was at my middle-class mom's house, not my upper-class dad's.) She sounded a bit surprised. It was either because

  • we were barely even friends,
  • she isn't very popular and maybe wasn't asked or didn't ever ask before
  • she was babysitting at the time, or
  • I just completely screwed up my offer.

I don't think it was the last one, though. I was surprisingly calm about the whole thing. This girl is someone who I can talk to without stuttering or saying something stupid like "I like swords." So that's a good sign. I just hope that on Friday at Applebee's, my mom and sister don't sit too close by. =P
