Whoa

I just took an hour drive down to Los Alto Hills to see a show glisse was in, Brigadoon, and now I want to see it again. It’s probably the best theater experience I’ve ever had. Might be because I don’t really like theater that much, but… wow. Costumes, sets, acting, singing, the musical itself (which I had never seen), all amazing. Extremely colorful. Every scene had a different color scheme, it seemed.

So yeah. Actually I really do want to see it again, that is, if anyone wants to come with. It’s only $15 if you’re a student, and with a promotional code “ONLINE.” It’s going on for two more weekends. I highly, highly suggest seeing it; it made my weekend. And I’ll drive if anyone wants to go (because the drive down is really fun (and fast) too)!

Juno Reactor

No I’m serious, Juno Reactor is really silly. It’s like

Guys guys I am using Windows Vista and when windows pop up they start off all blurry and then when I dismiss them they sorta like zoom off into the distance and fade away oh my lord!!!

FF7 SPOILERS OH NO YOU'D BETTER SCROLL PAST THIS UH OH

Ahahaha. I’ve been playing FF7 on my PC and I followed the dating guide for Barret. Just went through the scene.

Barret asks Cloud if he wants to go on a walk. They head toward Event Square, and the guy who usually says “you’re our 100th couple!” says “oh, you’re not a couple.” And the entire stage scene is skipped. Then Barret asks Cloud if they can go somewhere to talk in private, and you head to Round Square for the fireworks scene. Barret then asks Cloud why he wanted to take him on the ride, and why he wouldn’t take Aeris or Tifa, or even Yuffie. Then Barret mentions Marlene for some reason and gets really pissed off about Cloud taking interest in Marlene. Then he starts cursing out the fireworks and starts shooting his gun-arm to try to mute out the sound.

It’s a really funny scene. I’ve got a save file for before I get Yuffie – if I’m really bored I might go through the entire process trying to go out with her, too. :P

As Influential as the Beatles.

Lily and I were having a talk about this in the car…

I’d say the most influential music of the 20th Century was the Beatles. Or the most noteworthy. Or the most popular. Or something. Basically, it’s the band with the biggest name recognition and basically everyone likes at least some of their stuff.

What would be second runner-up? And is there anything of this age (3 decades later) that even compares?

I threw out a few names like Nirvana, Radiohead, Aphex Twin, and Lily said Green Day or ACDC… but none of them were or have been around for as long as the Beatles, nor do I really see them being recognized as so important in, say, 30 years.

We were also talking about how in an MTV era, it’s almost impossible to gauge something like influential music. Throw charts, MTV, radio, whatever into the equation and you’ve got skewed results from the majority of people (read: SHEEP) who will listen to what’s popular. This isn’t to say that the Beatles’ popularity wasn’t skewed by stuff like this… but back then when music was under less attack by corporations and IP debate, it was quite a lot harder to become an “overnight sensation,” or something like that.
